Post another attempt for a palliative program
Author: PBurhanna

I have just been hired by a large university teaching hospital in an urban setting. I have been hired specifically for palliative care as a nurse practitioner to develope an in-patient palliative care program/service. My previous experience was as an outside consultant in the development of a program. That program was a hospice-hospital based program in a 300 bed community hospital. I have been told by administration of this hospital that corporate is backing the program. This will be the hospital's 3rd attempt. It was felt by the hospital the previous attempts failed as staff involved were doing palliative as a secondary job beyound their primary positions. If anyone has any "words of wisdom" to give me I would appreciate anything and everything. I am sure I am to find some pitfalls along the way. Hi to Janet Braun...you were a godsend to me at my previous job!!
