As the NP for a consultation service, I frequently have graduate nursing students in primary or palliative care NP programs spend a semester with me for their clinical practicums.
Since I am now billing for services, I am not sure if I can bill if the student writes the note after I see the patient with her/him and co-sign the note. Does anyone have experience with this? Thank you.

I talked with Connie Dahlin who is the APN billing "guru". Here is her response: "I co-write the note with students and we both sign it and I bill depending on how much time I spent, not them." I hope this helps. Sandy Muchka, RN, CNS, ACHPN
