Post Palliative care team in third world country

We are looking to create a palliative care team at our hopital. It is a secondary hospital. We do not have the bed faccilities to for in patient care but would life to set up an out patient clinic. With limited resources, funding and staff, could anyone advise me on what are the basic and core things needed in setting up such a clinic.

I would look to determine exactly what resources are available, who can help you ie government, NGO's, then plan on training to get allies and more resources.An out pt clinic is a start but an in pt service may be easier to start depending on your situation. The May 2007 issue of the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management is dedicated to international palliative care development. Nineteen countries, some third world, published articles with details of their programs. There are also articles that focus on models of care, funding, national policy, etc. Hopefully you will find ideas, implementation strategies, lessons learned. Mary Wheeler
