We actively in-service all units and disciplines in our institution regarding the role of palliative care. We conduct at least 2 ELNEC courses annually to help increase awareness; these also all in increase our consults. Finally we offer all staff the ability to shadow us for a day or a few hours to gain greater insight as to what we palliative care do. They go through an enhanced version of the ELNEC Train the Trainer Course and then are resources to their co-workers and patients.
We do the training at least twice a year plus the diff. ELNEC specialty courses.
They have a committee that does a lot of outreach, a newsletter, e-lists, etc.
They need to renew every 4 years.
