Post Benchmarked Pt Sat Surveys

We have Press Ganey in our organization and they seem to have very little support for palliative care. In order to provide me with benchmarking data on outpatient visits, the admin decided to lump me with the oncologists. I don't feel that is an appropriate comparison, but it may make me look better, since I spend much more time with patients/families!

Two questions:
1. For outpatient palliative care visits, what are others using to provide Pt Sat surveys that are benchmarked to other institutions?
2. Ditto for inpatient consult service.

Would be willing to use non Press Ganey if there were other orgs using it that we could compare against.

Hi. I don't know of any commonly-used outpatient palliative care satisfaction surveys. Most institutions use their routine evaluation across the various services. One consideration is to try to find an appropriate control group to compare with... e.g. satisfaction among non-palliative care consulted cancer patients similar to your palliative care consulted cancer patients. In the hospital, most programs find it most useful to use the hospital-wide survey, to enable direct comparisons for strategic purposes.
