Help! Our program is growing much more rapidly than we can keep up with. Have paper files we need to get in computer form and we're running out of room! We have an excel program that isn't meeting our needs. Any suggestions for appropriate software, and how do I purchase these?

We developed a database using Microsoft Access. It has proven to be an invaluable tool.

Last I heard both Kathleen Kerr at UCSF (kkerr@medicine.ucsf.edu) and Lynn Spragens (independent consultant, lynn@lspragens.com) had developed Palliative Care database tools which were available to the public for reasonable prices. Excel, as you've learned, is not a good data management platform. Access or other relational databases are much better for entering, managing, and manipulating data.
