Hi Clareen, You may want to look at populations where there is the largest demand for palliative care, the area that is most important from the hospital's perspective or outlined in your business plan. At the beginning you want to respond to all consults with "How can I help?" Some may not be exactly what you are looking for, but this is an opportunity to talk about palliative care and to help by doing what you can. Look for the "low hanging fruit," ie where are you welcomed. Many programs find that early success leads to rapid growth in volumes and referral sources.
