We are in the process, of implementing a Palliative Care consult service. We are a Catholic Hospital, and we use the Ethical and Religous Directives as a guide for our Policies and Procedures. What are some of the Ethical issues that come up with palliative care?

Issues may include capacity,determining benefits vs burdens,disclosure,advanced care planning, decision making capacity especially for marginalized groups;withholding vs withdrawing treatment; stopping vents,tpn pegs feeds, dialysis; double effect, medical futility, sedation at the end of life. Does this help?
