Hi,
I'm not aware that hospital ethics committee members bill for their consultations. If they do, I believe that the CPT code used is 99251-99255 (initial inpatient consultations) regardless of specialty. This would be used by PC physicians. An ICD-9 code of V66.7 "Palliative Care Encounter" may be used in conjunction with a PC consult. Hope this helps... let me know if not.

I'm not so sure billing for an ethics consult is appropriate. Can you give more background on who requested it and what the issue or intent was? Also you would never use V66.7 as a primary diagnosis, this codes is usually used secondary to signs/symptoms/chronic illness.
