Post APN billing in an Acute In-Patient Hospice Facilit

In today's CAPC audio conference it was mentioned in the discussion portion of the presentation that there was a way for APN's to bill for their services in an acute in-patient hospice facility however it has been my understanding that APN's cannot bill unless serving as the attending. Does anyone have information where I can delve into this matter? We do not want to flip-flop back and forth when we have APN's covering for just one day or a weekend. Thank you

Your understanding is correct. Nurse practitioners may only bill for hospice services when the NP serves as the hospice patient's attending physician and only if applicable state law authorizes NP's to perform such duties.
