You can do your own billing if the volume justifies it. This is quite a bit of work though and you would need to contract with the insurance payers in your area. There are national billing agencies that you can enroll with to do this for you. This is rather time consuming. If you are a solo practitioner, (after things are set up properly and running), the cost per month is extremely low. The other option is just to call up the insurer and ask for help. You would be surprised at home many people love to talk to doctors and help them out.
