Post NP billing in Illinois Hospital

If anyone has been billing for NP consultations in Palliative Care. I would appreciate your counsel. As of this time the service is provided gratis. I am not part of the cost report. Look forward to your insights. We are also planning to open an outpatient clinic.

Who employs the NP? Is it the facilty or the physician group practice? Where are the services being rendered?

I am an employee of the Hospital, Administration dept. I am not in the cost report. There are potential billing opportunities for inpatient consultations and outpatient consultations? I have the required credentials and an NPI number.

The Palliative Care Consultations - APN led are being provided as a service of the community hospital at this time.

It's my understanding that the hospital can only bill for your services if they are not getting reimbursed by Medicare on their cost report for your salary.
