I was asked if Medicare would pay for lab drawn at home for a palliative care patient who is not home bound?

The physician would like to avoid frequent trips to the office due to fatigue and exposure to cold and disease in a medical facility.

Typically this is a NO, yet want to make certain. Thanks for your help.

I haven't found any information to suggest that they would in fact pay for the venipuncture performed in a patient's home that isn't home bound. My gut tells me they won't.

What type of legal setup would one need to pursue a private pay type of situation for lab draws in the patients' home? If, for example, an RN were to draw ordered labwork, and transport to laboratories determined by the physicians, would one need some type of OSHA certification (or something else)? CLIA?
