I have been reading with interest from another listserv, the concern about utilizing the code V66.7, which is Palliative care and that connotation to terminal care. We see many more patients who are not termninal than those that are terminal, and do not want our PC services equated to end of life care only. What are others doing in regard to combat this association besides the obvious ongoing education of providers? If providers know that the coding of PC will describe their patients as terminal, when indeed those patients are not terminal, my concern is they will not refer for reasons other than end of life care.

Any thoughts, suggestions, concerns?
