We are just beginning a Palliative Care Program and currently doing research and benchmarking at our hospital. We have also tracked some patients in the home after discharge. Is there a document of any sort that exists on what can be charged and what cannot be charged? We have contacted many different programs in our area, but this seems to be a very "fuzzy" area. Thanks for your help.

Evaluation and Management codes can be used for all places of service. There are some fine points regarding the provider type, however. There are some procedures you can bill for as well. Remember that palliative care diagnosis would be a symptom. As far as a document, Medicare Part B website is a good starting point.
