Post Acute inpatient to inpatient hospice care
Author: JoanP

Our hospital is an acute inpatient one. We do not have our won hospice. We have a contract with the area Hospice program. When a patient is in initially as acute inpatient and then signs on to inpatient hospice( staying in the same bed) what is the appropriate UB 04 code to use when our hospital coders complete the chart? The 51 code states ' qualified' hospital. Does this mean the hospital has be a licensed Hospice agency. Thank you
