Post APN billing in outpatient setting, same-day

What is necessary for reimbursement when APN sees patient in outpatient clinic the same day as the oncologist sees them? We are being advised that APN cannot bill the same day as MD bills. This is in a university-based outpatient clinic setting.

You should be billing the services under the shared visit/combined efforts rules. Combine the documentation for one level of service and bill under either provider. If this is a Medicare patinet you would benefit from billing the service under the MD. Were the two providers seeing the patient for the same/related reason?
