Post Commercial Billing for Non-Hospice Palliative Care

I work at a hospice in NJ we are thinking of starting a PC Program. I was wondering which insurance companies (National & Local) do and do not cover non-hospice palliative care.

Also, I have conflicting reports as to whether or not NJ Medicaid does.

I've not heard of any carrier not reimbursing for Palliative care. Medicare just adopted Hospice and Palliative care as a specialty last October, so before that no one really knew what providers were even rendering PC. The commercial carriers are not likely to acknowledge the new CMS specialty, so I don't know how they can pick and choose which services are PC to deny. I do not know about NJ Medicaid;it's unlikely that they are using the CMS specialty designaiton as they view specialties via the taxonomy codes assigned to each provider.
