We are a hospice agency with a new palliative care program. Most of our visits are made either in a SNF, AL or home setting. My question(s) is... are we able to bill for SW palliative care services in these settings and if so what level of SW credentials would be required and what CPT's might be appropriate?

It's my understanding that SW cannot bill E/M services, they are limited to more psych related services like therapy. I suggest you visit the CMS site to review their policies regarding social workers. We've relied on info in PSYCH-09,13 & 14 relating to our social worker who provides services to Geriatric patients and their families.
