billing in my hospital has told me that our physician cannot bill until he is certified in palliaitve care. I don't think this is true, but can't find any documentation. can anyone help? - Jim

Medicare does not require that a provider be certified in a specific specialty prior to choosing that speceialty designation. I've never heard of a hospital requiring that a provider be certified in Palliative Care prior to billing any of his services. I would go back to the hospital and ask them to site why and where they are getting their info.
