Post In pt Billing for palliative care services
Author: nancymason

Our hospital (home-care services) has a complimentary out-pt phone support palliative care service. When a home pt is admitted to the hospital the in-pt palliative care service is notified for continuity of care. The oncologist would not support the pal care consult because of the belief that a pt receiving chemotherapy will not be reimbursed for the chemo therapy if palliative care is consulted on the pt. Can that be true? This sounds ridiculous since it is most appropriate to support a patient that is receiving chemo and may need symptom management etc. Please respond.
