Post collection percentages

I am part of a hospital based inpatient/outpatient palliative care program. We have several physician and mid-level FTEs. We have our share of uninsured and Medicaid patients but a majority have Medicare followed by BCBS, etc. A review of our collection percentage reveals that it is significantly lower than that for other medical specialties in our hospital. Is this the experience of others in the forum? Are there benchmarks/expectations published or available for a "good" percentage of collections for a program?
