XL Palliative Care Consultation (Physician Clinic) has been providing palliative services for 2 years with no Medicare reimbursement. XL has been endorsed with Medicare B number for over a year. CMS-CIGNA claims now that Medicare does not reimburse Palliative Care. Any recommendations in challenging CIGNA's claim?

Medicare does not recognize PC as a specialty until fall '09. Your provider would have to be credentialled with another specialty under Medicare until this fall. I believe that there isn't any requirement for board certification in a specialty for Medicare. Most of my PC providers are Hem/Onc or Med Onc and a few are IM.
